FAQs

What is Laser Hair Removal?

1

Laser hair removal is an advanced treatment that uses targeted light energy to reduce unwanted hair. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle, gently disabling its ability to grow back over time—while keeping the surrounding skin safe.

With consistency, the result is smoother skin, softer regrowth, and long-lasting hair reduction.

Is it safe for all skin types?

2

Yes—when performed with the right technology and by trained professionals, laser hair removal is safe for all skin types, from light to dark.

At Gray Laser, we use advanced diode laser technology with dual wavelengths (810/940 nm), which allows us to safely and effectively treat a wide range of skin tones. Each treatment is customized based on your skin type, hair type, and sensitivity to ensure both safety and results.

Does it hurt?

3

Most people describe it as a quick “snap” or warmth. With Mediostar’s cooling technology, discomfort is minimal and completely tolerable.

We can also adjust settings based on your sensitivity' levels to ensure a comfortable and effective treatment.

How many sessions will I need?

4

Most clients need 8–10 sessions for optimal results.

Hair grows in cycles, and the laser is most effective during the active growth phase—so multiple sessions are needed to target all hairs over time. Treatments are typically spaced 4–6 weeks apart.

With consistency, you’ll see a steady reduction in hair, with regrowth becoming finer, lighter, and much slower. Some areas may need occasional maintenance sessions after completing the initial series.

Are the results permanent?

5

Laser hair removal is an FDA-cleared method for long-term hair reduction. Most clients see a 70-90% decrease in hair growth after completing their sessions. Many follicles stop producing hair, while remaining hair becomes finer and slower-growing. Over time, hormonal changes can stimulate new growth, which is easily maintained with occasional touch-up sessions.

Can it be done over tattoos?

6

No — we cover tattoos to protect pigment and avoid burns.

What should I do before my first laser hair removal session.

7

  • Shave the area 12-24 hours before your apointment

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning for at least 2 weeks

  • Skip waxing, plucking, or threading (laser needs the root)

  • Keep skin clean - no lotions, oils, or deodorant on the area

  • Let us know about any medications or skin sensitivities

Can I shave between sessions?

8

Yes - shaving is the only recommended method between sessions. Avoid waxing, plucking, or threading, as the laser needs the hair root to be effective.

Is there any downtime after a sesion?

9

Thers is no real downtime. You can return to your normal routine right away, though we recommend avoiding heat (workouts, saunas, hot showers) and sun exposure for 24 hours.

Who is not a good candidate for laser hair removal?

10

Laser works best on darker hair. Very light blonde, red, or grey hair may not respond well. Certain medications or skin conditions may also require adjustment or postponement. We assess everything durinng your consultation to ensure safe and effective treatment.
